How useful these two things when you for travel?
How many of you carrying map/phone ? And do you think map is useful stuff to bring along with? Or you might think carrying a phone is more important than a map? Which of these two you think is useful and which do you prefer to carry when you travel? This is just a choose of one and why ?
Hope to hear from you my fellow mylotters.

I think both are important because if you have going once on that place where you had never visited.. then it is necessary to have map of the location and also phone with you.. because it helps you when you may contact to any person.. and also map tell you the location.. happy [anurag3786]
Hello anurag, Yah actually both are necessary to bring along when we go to travel, you have a good points for these,..Thank you and Happy myLotting!happy [cloud31]
We normally travel by car. Then i only take a GPS and my phone. I hate maps. It is confusing. [saphrina]
I usually have both, but if I could only carry one, I'd carry the map. I know I can get wherever I want to go with a map. I'm not sure I'd be able to get where I want to go by calling someone and trying to explain where I'm at and how I get from there to where I'm suppose to be. A phone becomes more useful when you're in the town and looking for the house, motel, etc. A map is more useful out on the open road. [hofferp]
Hello hofferp, Its nice to know you usually carry both they were useful actually, its big help for us carrying these two stuff during our travel, I'm with you about how useful they are to us.. Thank you for sharinghappyGood day! [cloud31]
Hi miss cloud!! I rather choose a phone during my travel, It's so hard to understand a map during my travel, how many times we used a map, and still, we'ew going no whererofl. If i have a phone, i could easy contact my relatives or my family where i am just incase I missed the way what i am looking for. Have a nice day and Happy mylotting.. GBU.... [___SKY___]
Hi sky, So prefer a phone during your travel, yah phone is useful too, maybe you consider to learn how to follow map then its easy for you to access from point to point when driving! Thank you for sharing!!happy [cloud31]
Hi cloudie! A map and a mobile phone are both very important to carry during a travel. But if I just have to choose one, then I would go for map, you can easily reach your destination by using a map. Because even you don't have a mobile mobile phone with you, you can always drop by to a store, phonebooth, or a payphone if you needed to call someone. The pathway is already seen on the map, you just have to follow it. When you don't carry a map, you will really have a hard time reaching your destination. So that will be my choice among the two, I'll go for map. Have a nice day! Happy myLotting! cool [markmoney]
Hi Mark, You go for map, yah it make sense especially when you are driving ,it can easy to reach a destination if you can follow the map carefully, and also you are right when mobile phone is not available a phone booth always available anywhere unless to some remote area. Thank you for sharing and Happy mylotting toohappy [cloud31]
I always have my phone on me, but I'd prefer to have the map with me. That way I have a hard copy in front of me of where ever I need to go. [jfier001]
Hi jfier, You go for both, yah they are both useful during our travel..Thank you for sharing and Happy myLotting!happy [cloud31]
hey Ij... I think that I should go for both.... I'll still get lost thought because I don't know how to use a map or I really haven't tried it at all... I think that a phone could be handy in doing so.. Without those two.. I will surely get lost...happyhappy [yresh12]
harhar... I think I surely would.. I'm just wondering if you every sleep.. hahaha Well If I would I have to call the police or go somewhere... [yresh12]
HELLO MY DEAR FRIEND phone is important then map because if you have expensive phone so every thing is over there.next thing is if you have phone so you can ask and talk to any one so i prefer first phone then map. what you think????????????????? [satya4186]
Hello satya, Yah you are right phone can be use for emergency especially when you miss the way, how about if the place has no phone access and no signal what you gonna do,isn't it useful to bring along map with you too just in case,.happy. Thank you for sharing..Happy myLotting!happy [cloud31]
i think phone is best thing to useful on travel because latest phones had gps you dont need to take maps with you.and you can play games by phone. [qaiyum88]
Hello qaiyum You go for phone, you mean carry a phone could simply entertain you during travel, hope you won't miss the way jokelol..Respect your views,. Thanks for sharing,,Happy myLotting!happy [cloud31]
depends. If I'm all by myself and driving, then definitely a phone. Otherwise, especially if I'm on foot, I'd prefer a map. Because my phone doesn't have internet so I can't just pull up mapquest. I love maps. [jebbbbzzzdebebz]
Thanks for sharing, myself though love maps!happy [cloud31]
dear cloud, i dont travel often but i guess both the map and mobile phone should be carried by a traveler. sometimes you dont have a signal so i guess the map will be handy. have a very nice day. annhappy [tigeraunt]
Hello tigeraunt, Yes I agree with you sometimes mobile phone signals quiet weak in some remote ares so map will very useful in that case. Thank you for sharing and Good day ahead!happy [cloud31]
If I had to choose then I would take a phone, you can get some these days with maps on them, the reason I would take a phone over a map is because even though the map would show me where to go the phone would help me if I got into trouble. So I would prefer the phone, and plus the light on the phone could help if I was in darkness somewhere. [Auntiescarf]
Hello Auntiescarf, That's a very good reason of choosing a phone,to help you call a rescue when having trouble or accident, thank you for an informative response. Have a nice day ahead!happy [cloud31]
If given an option to carry both, I would be glad. Because both are really useful when traveling. Map gives you direction, while phone makes you connected to others and in the case of emergencies, it's useful to make some calls. However, if to choose one out of these two, I would choose a phone. Phone nowadays are high-ends already. You can use it already to surf internet, which means you can access maps through the phone. two in one.LOL [assinertata]
Both are very useful to bring when travel,it can be very useful in different way and useful in both ways. Thanks for sharing!Happy myLotting!happy [cloud31]
IF it was to be either one I woul definitely say the phone.Because any place you go to you have a local number which provides the address and the details of almost about anything you need to get to. This option is present in many countries and I guess it would be better to have a phone to get in touch with friends who have already been in the place to get info about it rather than a map. [dbeast]
Keeping a map with me while traveling seems so disorienting to me. I always carry a phone whether traveling or not, but can't relate it directly!confused I prefer having route information, but that's different than a map. Maybe because I don't own a vehicle...whistle [hora_fugit]
I think map is more important when you are in an foreign country. It will make traveling much easier and in case of emergency we can always count on the public phones should we need help. [zandi458]
I think a cell phone is more important than a map. With a cell phone if you're lost on the way to a friend's house. You can call the friend to get directions. A map is a pain in the a-- to fold and unfold when driving. Now if you're traveling in places like Europe and you have an I-phone, well they have Apps built in to tell you where to go. [doglady112]
Hi cloud, I would choose to bring my cellphone. When we travel to a new place, it is advisable to be with a trusted tour guide, if we can't hire one, it is important to keep the number of the hotel to our cellphone so that when we get lost, we can just call them to guide us the direction. [Gareth126]
Yeah, as far as I am concerned, I think I will prefer to use the phone so much. For e, I think the phone can be more useful and important for me,If I have some problem, I will call others for helm. For traveling, I think if I just do not know here to go, I may open my mouth under my nose to ask others for help. That is OK. [monkeylong]
I would rather take a phone because a person can be called if one gets lost, and it is good too have if the car breaks down. Of course the phone would need a car charger and also it would work better when not going through areas where towers don't bounce off. [SomeCowgirl]
This is an easy answer for me! It's sad, but I can't read a map anyway, so I'll definitely have my phone with my during travel at all times! However, the best thing to have for travel would be my GPS. My husband has a GPS built in his phone, so that's the perfect solution. He will never have to carry a map with him again! Thanks for asking. rofl [JJ4Ever]
I feel a phone is more important for communication, since technically you can call for intrusions and directions. [climber7565]
Hi, cloud31. I would have to say that both are needed when traveling. I need to have all both of these because I may need to call someone while I am traveling abroad. And I need the map to tell me where I am going and in what direction I may need to take. Both of these are useful while traveling. I can't do without either one of them. [cream97]
i prefer both, why because we can use map to locate where we will go and we also need phone if we are lost and try to call someone related to us if he/she knows the place and besides here in the Philippines not all phones posses the capability of tracking where the person is, some only use old cellphones thats why its better to bring with you both [jiraiyasanin]
Dear friend, I may have a map. If I am aware of the destination to reach I hope it would be difficult to say or inform where I am. Moreover if that phone do not have range, charge, or with any other reason if that phone is not working I hope it would be a bit bitter. Moreover if one have a map through which one could find phone booth of any other media for communicaiton, the palce where once needs. But if one needs help in urgency I hope communication is needed, in that case I hope phone is also essential.happy [SHAMRACK]
Hi Cloud, In the Philippines it's okay to just bring your cellphone and we're not used to bringing maps when we travel. we can always ask for directions and shortcuts with the people..but in the US and other countries, it is advisable to always bring along with you a map. we can also ask for directions with people in the place but some of them are also an alien and don't have idea where you are going! i better bring along with me a cellphone. if there'a map i will bring it too. [msfrancisco9369]
Hi, cloud. It's an embarrassing thing for me to admit that I'm never good at using maps. I just can't figure out the direction marked on a map. If I'm travelling alone, i prefer to carry a phone with me all the time. I've got a compass installed in it and that really helps. If there are others around, I mostly rely on them for direction. happy [chenxiaoyue_713]
hi cloud, i would love to carry both. but if i have to carry only one, between them, i would choose a phone. while i can ask my way around, the phone can connect me to my kids back home. thanks for the topic. have a nice day:) [tomitomi]
i will carry N900 in this phone all things are available. It also has map.. now a days mobiles r bcoming a amazing thing with which we cant live in our world... [Nikhil1418]
I would go for Phone---it pretty easy to track down our movements through GPS and there are less chances for us to get lost in unknwon locations especially when we visit other countries---we are there for celebrating our holidays not to explore their roadways or transport facilities lol.i would make necessary preparations though before leaving for a holiday whistle [sunnycool]
Hi Cloud, I prefer to bring both Map and cellular phone, Map can be of best help in case there is no signal of our phone still we can reach our destination safely. But if I only to choose one well, I really prefer the MAP, not minding the burden of carrying map as long as you know it will not run out of battery and signal.:) [mackiejp]
A Phone - I phone can have a map (Google Maps, data, and information) but you can't call someone using a map. [dminotaur]
If your going to travel for the first time in a particular place i suggest a map is much more appropriate yes you will be able to call for assistance with a phone but with a map you will be able to see key marks that will help you find your way much more easier than with a phone. lol [setsuna26]
Hello cloud! I would use a GPRS cell phone, wherein I could access Internet and could view maps of the places also, if I am going out of station. Mobile phone has many features, which will help me in my sojourn. [dpk262006]
As for me,I would choose a map certainly.I don't feel that the cellphone makes so much for me.Actually,I have a cellphone but I think it's useless cause I seldom call others .While a map can tell me where to go and how to go back. And more important is when I am on my trip,I do hope everyone forget me cause I enjoy the feeling of alone without any caring. [langjipingzong]
if you travel alone, both maybe helpful. but usually, i only bring with me my cellphone. and before i am going to a place for the first time, i look at the place with the use of a map or maybe online maps, so i can be familiar with the place, even before i get there. [neildc]
I always like to take a detailed map with me of the area I am going to be visiting. Then I will be able to travel around that region with lots of knowledge. I might be able to add some interesting places to my trip. I would be happy not to take my mobile phone on my trip. In some areas I can't get a reception. I used to have a better mobile phone and know if I still had it that it would work in Canada. I mobile phone I have now would be unlikely to work outside Europe which is the part of the world where I live. A map will be useful on every trip and a mobile phone would work in some areas in the world but not in every country in the world. [maximax8]
i prefer to carrying a phone when i travel, because now, cell phone have GPS/map features and i think phone more usefull than map.because about something place i can ask to someone or i can travel with a guide.have a nice weekend [ridwan08]
hi, cloud 31. i would like to carry both. If there is network of mobile. It is necessary to carry map if you are going to a new place. Every one carry a man these days. any way, thanks for good discussions -vine. [vine88]
if it were old times, i will bring both, but now we can install gps to our phone, so i'm just gonna do that. so i can have two with just bringing one :) [farkirikofar]
I will take a phone with me for a travel.Because you can use the phone to keep in touch with your friends .When you meet some problems ,you can use call others for some advice.A map is useful ,but you can search the path of your travel in advance and also you can ask the natives the right way.So i prefer to a phone when travel. [fansilawobuzhidao]
I'd bring both, cause you didn't say it had to be one of them.. teehee. Do you like to travel that much or more an indoor girl? [broery2081]
If I had to choose between a map and a phone while I was traveling, I would have to choose a phone. So many things can happen. What good is a map if you need help? A phone is a traveler's best friend. It is always there when you need it. When any traveling emergency arises, you have the security of knowing you are not alone. [sender621]
I choose carry a mobile phone with me........... It will help to find direction............. [ganesh_bala]
These are both important for me when I am travelling.maps that are full of specific information of the city or attraction can show the way we get there fastly and clearly. In terms of phone,it also have great impact on the trip. For instance, you can call to your friends or local service agencies seeking help ,which is a fast way. [Derek871228]
happyGPS! LOL! If I had the choice it would have to be phone.I can always mapquest something if I need to.Me and maps are not good friends. For some reason they are like foriegn language to me, and I just dont get them. I think looking up on my phone would be so much simpler!cool [erikmama]
i will choose to bring a phone during travel, my phone is internet ready so i can just connect to google maps and use it instead and if ever i get lost i can call someone for help using my phone. [caliya]
Personally I would choose a phone because to myself reading maps are confusing. But it is still important to carry some sort of guide to your destination. I'm usually not the one driving so I just bring my phone and just call and talk to friends or text them. Still both items are very useful in travel. My final opinion would be both items should be brought during anyone's travels. -Rezz [KingRezz101]
hi cloud a cell phone will not really help you pinpoint a destination but a map will, but a map will not help if you need to call for help, and then you must have your cellphone too, so take them both with you as they aree equally important for different reasons.say you have a blowout on the freeway and are hemmed in by traffic the map is not going to help but you can call someone on the phone and get the help you need. [Hatley]
when i travel for leisure, i bring a phone, but i turn it off. a map, probably. but it's better to wander and make the travel more memorable by having the jitters (of getting lost) and the satisfaction (of finding one's way)... adventure makes travel more fulfilling... on business, i have to have both a map (or address, if you may) and a cellphone... [bystander]
I think that both of is important when we travel somewhere.but if I have to choose one of this I prefer map than a phone.Because a map can tell us the geographical location of the destination. [saurock]
Well how about both? My sis brought over her "droid" phone thingy...it's really expensive-like $100 a month and $250 for the phone...so she shows me this google maps application out in our yard that shows her position and it showed the house and lake and even our little above ground pool! I was shocked at the technology of the phones today! Mine is an old dinosaur that only makes voice calls LOL [RachelleNH]
Helo cloud..i'll say like this,by the standard of my phone now (motorola c113 and sony k77i) i'd prefer to brong a map becausr my phone have nothing gps service. a map can lead you direction and position when traveling. BUT if my phone have acces to gps i'll bring phone instead, because it help me both ways, calling and find directions. To answer your question i'll prefer phone, because we still can ask people for direction ;p [adequee]
I prefer using the phone, because I can not read maps. I often confused with the map. if I want to find a way, I prefer to ask the people or the police. It would be easier for me. or I'll call a friend to ask where I was looking for. [indahfth]
I would rather have a phone than a map. I could try calling someone for directions and ask for help. I'm not so good at reading maps at all because there's one time I'm still new in manila, I tried to drive to MOA and I got really lost even though I have a map alreadylol I even got caught by the police officer for violating traffic rules I just explained that I'm lost and good thing he reconsidered because I am really lost at that time rofl [chiepao]
hello cloud, i think depends on where i am going. hehe if i am going in a mountainous areas, say for a hiking or what they i will bring a map with me. there's no sense in bringing a phone when there's no signal in the place!lol but if i were just to travel around a city or province, i like to have phone with me. its more useful in case of emergency. and besides i think i can do without a map by asking to the locals. hehehappy [ckyera]
I have googlemaps on my mobile so i'll just bring along a mobile. Oh, it will just turn out bad if there's no signal in the place or the battery runs out. So i'd better bring both. lol [basqui]
i think i can carry both of them . they are both important for me to travel . i can find the plzce we want , and the phone can help me call my friend if i go lost . [hanyelin]
now days we are travelling through bus,train,car..etc..so i will carry phone only...suppose if go alone ,we need both [zack786]
Well i would take up a phone rather than a map. Reason is map i am very poor in directions and a map cannot guide me at all. A phone, ofcourse my friends will surely help me out! [besthope44]
I prefer to carry both. But if I have to choose either one,I would chose a map, phone can be found anywhere while map can't be buy every where. [Krystel_mh]
