Do You Travel With First Aid Kit

Hi mylotters :) Do you prefer to travel light or do are you more secured with having a first aid kit while traveling? Personally I don't bring with me a first aid kit because it adds up to the weight of my baggages so instead I bring with me my rosary and I feel more secured with it ;) of course my camera and mp4 player to enjoy the trip ;)

I have a first aid kit at home, but don't bring one with me when I travel. That's actually a good idea. When I get some cash, I'll invest it in a smaller kit for travel purpose. I also take my rosary with me when I go places. Unfornately, when I changed it into another purse a few days ago, I saw it broke. [smartie0317]
Oh gosh a broken rosary is usually a bad omen. I don't mean to scare you but just pray a lot and say sorry for having it broke accidentally.. [cecillecarmela]

hi cecillecarmela, while we travel we don't actually carry the whole first aid kit with us,but we do take some medicines for the diseases we might get during a travel, like physical injuries, cold, fever or diahorreah.we never no what might happen when so its good to carry at least some first aid tools. [vnrsudhan]
Hehe I never brought a first aid kit while traveling, but the least I could bring with me are medicines for fever ;) maybe as long as i have money that would be okay [cecillecarmela]

Depending on the needs of the trip. If you can predict, there is no one to bring some items that will need. Than you must buy it.happy [hsofyan]
Usually a money, rosary and a prayer booklet would make me feel safer during a trip. :) Thanks for the response ;) [cecillecarmela]

Around 3 years ago, while we were at church, my dad missed a step near the parking area, and he banged his head in the road.. He smashed his glasses and got a cut in his nose.. We were in panic because we didn't have a first aid kit in the car.. After that, I bought first-aid kits for our cars, our house and our apartment.. And it was really a big help.. You'll never really know when you'll need a kit like that. When I travel to far places or I commute, I always have a small bag for medicines and band-aids.. And that helps too.. you'll never know when somebody needs something.. And with my little bag, I have helped a lot of people. =) [Ingkingderders]
Wow good for you.. happy my mom is just like you, while we prefer to travel light, she wanted to make sure she doesn't miss something, she even brings pillows and blankets during long trips, extra stuffs which sometimes annoys us but I love her for being like that. It just shows how she cares for us happy [cecillecarmela]

I would only bring along with me paracethamol incase if I get head ache and apart from that I would not carry along with me a first aid kit. Always confident that I will be able to get it if anything goes wrong. By the way, Thanks for post, i got a strike in my mind on how important is it to travel with a first aid kit. Thanusha [thanusha85]
This discussion wasn't meant to be an advice, but you're welcome hehe happy thanks also for the response. [cecillecarmela]

I've never traveled outside the states before. So I've never had to take any first aid kits with me while i am traveling. However, I do have a first aid kit at home. But I guess if I traveled, at least once every six months, I wouldn't take a first aid kit. I don't think I know anybody who does take a first aid kit. IF you travel by plane, I would think they would have their own first aid kits, so in case you do have some sort of injury they would help you. [johnnyg456]
Some often bring with them first aid kits just to make them feel secure. I, however, bring just money, my rosary and a prayer booklet and I'm good with it. Sometimes I prefer to bring with me first aid kits if I travel by any public transport but if with my family I'd rather not bring one. Haha ironic. happy Thanks for the response ;) [cecillecarmela]

We never bring a first aid kit with us because usually where ever you go you aren't too far away from a pharmacy of some sort. I of course bring my medicine with me or like aspirin because when I travel by air I get ear aches and sinus problems. But other than that, I don't buy a first aid kit. I don't even have a first aid kit at home, just some band aids and neosporn...but then again it's only my boyfriend and I. When we have kids I bet I will have a first aid kit around. [dreamr802]
I didn't know that traveling by air affects sinus problems. Do you also have a sinusitis? [cecillecarmela]

Shamefully - I don't. I probably should. I don't do much travelling, and I'm pretty careful when I do - so it hasn't been necessary as of yet. But I think it's a great idea, especially if you have the room & especially if you're driving. [maezee]
I personally don't really bring first aid kit while traveling, just enough money would be okay I think. happy but I think it's a great idea to bring first aid kit especially when you're with family. Thanks for responding. [cecillecarmela]

Hello cecille , yes I do travel with my first aid kit .. simply because I'm a doctor and sometimes I go into situations where I should give help , and I should do it right [YazEid]
Well it's a must happy thanks for the response and take care [cecillecarmela]

Well my first aid kit is like 12 years old, came with my old 87' mercedes, does that count? No really, I have used it once when I cut my finger and I was shocked to open it and find band aids still in good condition. It fits into a little compartment under the back window. If it was not for this car having one I would not have really considered having one in my car until, probably, it was too late. I found the waterproof take the most useful. [revellanotvanella]
I bring medicines, alcohol and my own blanket when I travel ( especially during retreat) . [ilovechocolate]

I always carry a first aid kit. I have specific ones (such a one in my car, a little one I carry in my purse). I think its a very important item to have but public places such as malls and so on are starting to carry defibs and first aid kits throughout the buildings. [Ricki911]
Thanks for the response ricki911 I bet first aid kits are really important for you.. happy [cecillecarmela]

I just take a few items from the first aid kit. I then add some herbal remedies like some garlic oil capsules (colds & sniffles), charcoal capsules (food poisoning), a laxative. I was once told that travel causes a person to tense up and that can lead to constipation (sorry to be so blunt). That can ruin a few days of travel just by itself. It does not take much room to take a few essential supplies. I do not usually travel with more than one suitcase and a carry-on. I also like to take enough food in case there is a delay in flights. That has come in handy many times. [sysdexlicwriter]
I think food would be okay but medicines? Not really used to it. happy Besides I love traveling so much. Thanks for the response and the information you stated here. Happy mylotting [cecillecarmela]

Hmmmm, I only bring what I need for the trip and it usually doesn't include a first aid kit. Maybe if we were going to a nature tripping where when someone can actually trip and get hurt doh If its a long trip, I guess I have to bring something to amuse me with.. music player, a handheld, cellphone if I need to or to be contact.. hmmm.. rolleyes [ratyz5]
I only wish to travel with my friends and that is not often something that happens. I would like to travel and camping is involved but, a stay at some more convenient lodging is also a good idea (^_^ ) Ah, yes, money does make things better... [ratyz5]

Yes, I always bring my first aid kit with me when traveling. I have this small pouch where I store all my band-aids, medicines, etc. Anyway, I just bring a few tablets/capsules for the basic problems I may encounter, like fever, indigestion, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, stomachache, colds, and coughs. That is why my small pouch of first aid kit does not weigh much at all. The weight of my pouch is just like a hardbound novel. I always rest more easily if I know I have all the things I need or might need in case of emergencies. [zzyw87]
Wow you must be really a careful person. happy Well I'm not really that type because it adds up to the heavy baggage. But of course, I admire those who are always ready and prepared for whatever might happen. Thanks for the response and take care [cecillecarmela]

I dont but i think i have lizard hands. And anything major i might freakout and goto the hospital [doggyhouz]
Well I think you should always bring with you first aid kits co'z you'll never know what might happen. happy Happy mylotting [cecillecarmela]

No I don't even though know it is very important when you travel. Maybe soon I will start collecting a first aid kit to bring in the travel. I have in my home but I don't bring it whenever go but this is a good sign that I should but this discussion is a good sign that I have to bring a first aid kit whenever I go so if there will be an accident I could help. [francheskie]
Oh you love it? Thanks! Just acting like a model. [francheskie]

Hi Cecille, Totally agree with you that when we are travelling there is absolutely no need to carry a first aid kit! it definitely adds something to your baggage which could have been filled up with something else. I also feel that we are just being toooo paranoid and foolish if we get on a first aid kit along with us. Remember first aid kits contain usualy very small things to just treat anything basically like a cotton mound, Plasters, Bandage and some ointments to treat the basic cuts and wounds. I guess these would be available anywhere in any kind of small medical shop! If there really was any need to clean or bandage a small wound you can just run down the road and get some cotton and bandage or anything needed to immediately treat that small wound. Moreover, First aid kits definitely are not something that would be needed to save a life! so why bother to take a big box along with you. Contents like bandages, cotton, band aids can definitely be put somewhere in our bag and also occupy neglible place! Cheers and have a nice day! [gamesurfer]
Yeah Your right pal! Traveliing with our family we definitely need to be more careful. [gamesurfer]

I do carry first aid stuffs if not a proper first aid box. I am prone to cuts and falls and those come in handy and also I have found that those come quite handy with the kids around. I have been doing this since a child. I used to have a nice, proper Box and took pride in gathering all the stuffs. happy [mimpi1911]
Oh you should be careful all the time as cuts leaves scars in the skin.. sad prevention is always better than cure happy [cecillecarmela]

I usually bring a first kit when I travel. I have worked as a paramedic firefighter for about 13 years and obviously consider first aid kits as important. You can never tell when an accident happens or when someone get injured. It would be easier to provide assistance when you carry this things. [jpso138]
Wow it's good to know that you served as a firefighter for 13 years.. you should really love your job for you to stay that long. I admire your bravery and dedication to that job.. happy God bless and take care.. [cecillecarmela]

I don't travell with a first aid kit but i do carry a medical kit - just in case i fall sick :S However, i do carry an antiseptic cream, antiseptic liquid and a good amount of bandages :) [divkris]
And of course make-up kit will make my day.. Hahaha.. take care friend happy [cecillecarmela]

i only take the first aid kit when traveling by car. I would not take it with me when going by air since many items might not be permitted thru security or might hold me up as they have to examine them. If I will be away though for a long time I might buy a small one when I arrive off of my flight and then leave it behind at the hotel. [TrvlArrngr]

I have never travelled with a first aid kit. I expect the airline and emergency services to be doing that. i'm personally not a religious man so a rosary never accompanies me either. I am a light traveller. I mostly go from the UK to New Zealand so anything I dont need stays. I have even worn many layers of clothes to go through the airport. I had a t shirt long sleeve shirt and a jumjper on two pairs of trousers, three pairs of socks. It didnt look bad at all, in fact I looked quite buff. Hot though! The good thing is, they weigh your bags, they dont weigh you. Wear all your luggage I say!!! [markmaril69]

I do not bring the first aid kit, though i believe i should. I can never tell when accidents might happen, at least to my kids. This is why after seeing this topic that you have created, I have decided to put another set of first aid kit inside the car. It will cost not too much any way, and the case is that it can be so much better and safe. It is not a nice thing to be caught in a situation where one your your friends, family, or even you, after getting even just a minor accident, being left with the blood gushing out with no first aid kits to help. I think that i would rather bring a set of it along every time i ride the car, and it does not necessarily have to be for long distance trips. [safejunk]

I use to never have a first aid kit.Now that we have kids we have a first aid kit here a the house and we keep one in the car for trips...With kids you never know when you will need a first aid kit..So its a good ideal... [PoetryPose]

HI cecillecarmela, when I travel I ussualy do not carry a first aid kit. I will carry some bandaids and asprin or other medicenes and maybe eydrops in personal hyjenine kit. those few items are enough for myself and my needs.. [scififan43]

There is always a first aid kit in my car, so I have it when I travel that way. When going by plane, though, I only carry prescription meds with me. Like you, I prefer to keep the luggage as light as possible. : ) Karen [PeacefulWmn9]
