Your First Ever Experience Travel By Plane...

My first ever travel by plane happened when I was still 8 years old. It's domestic flight to other city, but I was fascinated by the airport, seeing how small the city is looking from up in the air, and really excited when the stewardess show the safety guidance and rolling up the food and beverage cart. It;s certainly two hours flight I would not forget in my life, so how's yours? Afraid or excited when it happened?

I taken plane first time when I was 24 years old. It's domestic flight too. I can remember the plane is A-300-600, the flight was very smooth. It taken 2 hours, if by train it will take more than 27 hours. [SteveJi]
Geez, 27 hours is a long time to travel between places. I don't remember type of airplane I used, still a little child at that time and too fascinated by the travelling experience itself. Thanks for the response steveji! [sophisticated_boy]

My first experience travel by plane was 2 years ago. When i am coming to china for my higher education. I was alone. Nobody was with me. Like my parents was not with me. So i was so upset and my parents was too. As i never go anywhere and never stay for long time without my mother. So i was so upset. But when i enter into the plane and plane run to start then i was feeling so excited. But for me it's normal. No upsetting,no afraid and no exciting. [dreamnishu]
Oh, that must be sad, but hey sometimes travelling alone is better than travelling with group. But i must say if it is your first time going by plane, you must be sad not accompanied by someone close to you to share the experience. Thanks for sharing, have a great day! [sophisticated_boy]

hello sophisticated_boy! mine was when i was already i think 20 years old...hehe and its also a domestic flight and i just travel alone! huh! i am abit nervous since that was my very first time, but thanks that on the waiting area i have met some good people who talks to me and makes me feel comfortable... and when i am already boarded, its funny coz i remember that i just copy what other passengers are doing...haha i am observing the other passengers and yes i also do what they do...haha funny experience! but anyway, as a whole my very first travel by plane is good, and exciting..happy to see the clouds! and as an addition i also met a girl that becomes my friend as well...happy [ckyera]
hehe, i guess that's the common thing that first timers do...copy what others do! well, i am your opposite i guess, coz usually when i am on travel alone, i always find myself talking to the person beside me! haha i don't know why but i usually feel comfortable with them. but maybe depends on the person as well... its fun talking to other people while on travel coz usually we can get good conversation from them and will likely to learn something from them...happy [ckyera]

I was only 9 months so I don't remember a thing :-) By the time I was big enough to remember it I had been flying so many times that I can't really remember it being very exciting, but I used to get very sick when I was child. I nearly always had to throw up so I ate lot of travel sickness pills. [Torunn]
I know some people who can get nausea when flying, even my sister had once been a little bit deaf when flying which I don't know why it happens. Thanks for the response! [sophisticated_boy]

My first flight experience when I was 6 years old. I travelled visiting my grandma hometon about 2 hours flight.I was really felt mix betweeen excited and also afraid. However I encouraged my self and tried to have window seat. When the plane take off my ear got hurt and my mother asked me to eat candy.Anyway, everything went very well and I didn't got any sickness at that time.. [dwightsunee]
Ah, the ear problem happens because of the plane hiking up in height that we are not used to. It is exciting to seat near the window, however my problem is it's hard to move anywhere since it means we have to bump people's feet :) Thanks for the response! [sophisticated_boy]

My first travel by plane happened just last year and i was 19 by that time. It wass an international trip. We arrived at the airport just in time but we encountered some problems. I thought the trip will be postponed. But thank God, everything turned to be okay. So the moment i got into the plane, i was so excited and nervous at the same time. I was excited to look below (i was near the window) to see the site. It was so amazing when you're flying up in the sky! LOL but the turbulence made me nervous. :) [kyel_11]

hi....acctually i no any travel by plane up to now...but must time i like to walking travel becuase i travel by foot that i thing in the travel i can get happiness from the around nature.... [OYGAK2005]

My first plane ride was around 5 years ago. I was already in college then. It was a huge family vacation to Boracay, and I won't really forget it. It was really a short flight and I was not nervous because I was with my family, and another sister of mine was also having her first plane ride, so I was not alone. hehe. [Ingkingderders]

My first memorable air travel was at the age of 4.it was an international flight from Dubai.i enjoyed the travel with my parents.i also rememeber the gifts they gave toc hildren on board and well, it was AIr-india flight.Well, it was a 3 hour journey and well i really loved it.I travelled my first domestic flight at the age of 23.Earlier, all were international. Thanks! [UltimateAsoka]

First time I took a plane was to go to another country, and I think that I was 20 years old. It was a 2 hours long flight, and it was pretty confortable. Also it was when they still would bring you free food in short-distance trips, so I enjoyed it. I also was really excited, as it was my first time in a plane! [madteaparty]
Hi madteaparty, I miss the time when short distance flight serve food and drinks. Now only first class carrier that do that. Travelling by plane is more affordable than in the past, but they cut costs here and there, including the food. Now the flight onlty serve tiny bit of bread and a cup of water, if you want any other than that, there'll be extra charge for that. Thanks for the response [sophisticated_boy]

Oh my first plane ride was awful i was 8 as well. It was a trip that took two seperate flights to get there from indiana to florida. I started out nervous and exited then ended up crying for an hour because of the ear popping that was something i had never experianced, it caused me to have a headach and i vomited the rest of the time! Not a good first time lol in fact I haven't flown since not that i could afford to now anyway lol!!! [lilyrayne]
Ouch that is not a first great experience :) The plane ticket is much cheaper right now since the fuel has declined sharply due to global crisis. Many airlines in my country cut their ticket price which makes it more affordable to travel anywhere. Even now, travel abroad is cheaper than flying to other town in my country :) Hope you experience another flight in the future! [sophisticated_boy]

its a domestic flight. its funny because i didnt even looked on the windows while the plane is taking off! i was so afraidw00t! but when everything is at rest, i started to get amazed with those beautiful clouds that i never felt nervous until landing on the airport. it was a great unforgettable first time experience hehe [drakesuyat]

l have not experience travel by plane before. But hope to do so soon [chrisonuwa]

Mt first ever plane ride was when I was 10 or 11 years old. As a first timer, I was really excited! It was an out of the country trip with my family. I love riding airplanes & I love flight discounts too. Hehe... [wengerts]

My first flight happened when I was 14 years old. I flew on a plane with my mom. It was a three and a half hour flight. We went from London to Athens. I felt excited on take off at seeing the landscape below. I thought it was funny seeing the puffy white clouds. Before the plane landed I got severe ear pain. Ten years later a friend gave me a pair of ear planes that stopped my ear pain when landing on a plane. I have been on many other flights since then. I fly to reach far away destinations. My last flight was Cape Town to London. [maximax8]
maximax, I think you must have been riding a lot of planes right now since I recall you already visited many countries in your life. I wish I could travel and visited far away countries even if it means I have to sit 12 hours plus in a plane like I did when I went to London lol. Thanks for the response! [sophisticated_boy]

My first flight was last month.I had mixed feeling of fear and excitement at first. When the flight boarded and after everyone settled I being calm.I enjoyed as they started serving the drinks, snacks and meal. Also, when I got to see lovely views from my window I was very happy. It was fun. [chosen9]

I was 20 years old, when I first traveled by plane. I am living in the philippines. My hometown is zamboanga city its a part of mindanao. We need to travel for 90 minutes by plane to manila, I apply for work abroad way back 2004, that was 6 years ago. Yes, I am always exited..and when I am inside the plane, the first thing I would do is pray for the safe trip, I have nothing to worry because I know God is with me. [myramae19]

I have always been afraid to fly, but I conquered that fear just to see my friend who lived in South Dakota (and still does). When I got to the airport, I was astounded at how large it was. It was hard following the signs to get where I needed to go, and several times I had to ask for directions. I was so nervous that while waiting for my flight to be called, I was shaking and spent most of my time in the bathroom, fearing I'd miss the flight. I was also praying and trying to think of other things. Even tried reading. When I boarded the plane and belted myself in, I was alert, gripping the arm rests and looked ready to bolt. The plane taxiing down the runway put so much pressure in the cabin that literally it felt like gravity was just sucked away. I felt it go into the air, and when it leveled out into the sky, I thought, okay, not so bad. But then it suddenly dropped. I inwardly panicked, internally shrieking: "Oh my God, we're going to crash!" And as weird as this may sound to some people, I actually heard a gentle voice telling me to, "Calm down, and look to the other people. Do you see any of them panicking?" Realizing no one else was freaking out, I settled down. But through that flight I was still nervous. I hated it when the plane turned, because it would press me against the window. I looked real silly trying to get away from the window every time the plane made a turn. [Firestorm0122]
Hi firestorm, great detail on your experience. I know signs in airport can be confusing, even for adult! It even worse if the airport signs are not written in English! Many airport in the world that has huge area which may have made sompe people even more confused. I experience turbulence before and it's not a great experience since all bad things suddenly appears in my mind, so I understand what you feeling at the time. Thanks for the response! [sophisticated_boy]

My first flight, I was afraid and excited. I traveled for the company I was working for at the time. It was around a 6 hour flight. I travel across the United states, east to the west. At first I could not look out the window, but I would look a little at a time. I got to were I was alright and was not afraid any more. I began to take pictures and have fun. Have a great day. [jezzmay]

I travel a lot and I am sure will not choose to travel by plance, although the aircraft safety factor high, but mortality rates are geater,I prefer the train. [yezhanjun043]

Of course I was very excited when it happened, as I was flying from my country to the JFK airport in New York. The only problem was that I sat down and but my seat belt on, but then I had no idea had to take it off again! I was young and very shy then, so of course I did not ask the stewardess or anybody else to help me, so I just had to sit there trapped to my seat for the duration of that long flight! [sylvia13]

My first experience by plane was when I had to travel alone to see my ailing mother. My body language was clear as crystal that I was flying for the first time which I wanted to hide at all costs and pretended to know where to go for the check in and where to put the luggage and where to wait for the flight announcement all this quietly following someone else without their knowledgelol [allknowing]

my first travel by plane was when i was an infant so don't remember anything except that i cried! my first real experience was when i was 9 years old and i was very excited about it like you did! mine was also a domestic flight and it was a little more than an hour's journey. as soon as the plane was airborne, i was so curious and excited that i started looking out the window. after being airborne for sometime, i started feeling dizzy and having nausea. after i closed my eyes tried to get rid of the dizziness. i was almost about to puke when the plane touched down the destination airport. my friend had already puked while airborne. we were being taken to our boarding school for the first time and both his and my father were also with us. after travelling several times things got better and became normal. [junil_jk]

I didn't travel by plane until I was about 18 years old. There just wasn't much call for it here in the UK because everywhere was reachable by car. But we decided one year to go off to Spain for a holiday, something nobody had ever mentioned before in our family. I throughly enjoyed the flight, and the views from the aircraft window. And the speed on taking off and landing again was really great. Since then I have flown a lot, and because I am a therapist, once or twice I helped someone who had a fear of flying whilst on the flight. happy_Derek [derek_a]

When i was very young and schooling i had gone with my mother and kid brother to the city where my uncle and his family used to stay. One day my uncle took all of us to the local flying club. There one by on we got into a 2 seater Tiger Moth airplane and flew for a bout 20 minutes around the city at a height of about 10,000 feet. It was quite a giddy experience but i enjoyed it. Then in 1983 i had my 1st real flying experience when i flew in a Boeing aircraft while on my way to work in a Gulf nation. Being my first flight i was a bit nervous, i did not even know how to fasten the seat belt and was helped by a kindly passenger sitting next to me. I felt really cold in the plane and had to cover myself with a woolen blanket. then when the plane took off and was in the air it started to bob and shudder as it encountered airpockets and heavy rainclouds. I could see lightning flashes as we were flying through dark clouds. I thought this was the end for me.finally when we reached our destination it was pouring outside and the plane shuddered and made a rough landing.I thanked god for having survived my first ride but after that i flew 11 times and was now a veteran and at complete ease while flying. [veejay19]

Sorry, my friend! I'm not so fortunate to have traveled by a plane yet. [faridmadeabillion]

The first time that I was ever on an airline flight was when I was two months old and I also had many other flights when I was a young child that I don't so much remember because of my age. That said, the first flight that I actually remember was when I was thirteen years old. Our entire family went to Texas for my second cousin's wedding. I thought it was neat to be able to see the land from above and I liked watching the land fall into us and fall away from us. [dorannmwin]

My first ever plane ride was when I was already working after college. It took only 15 minutes airborne time. The plane was small and the destination was in another city in another island where usually I take a ferry and bus ride in going there. Anyway, I had a connecting flight after that aboard an airbus to another city an hour away. The waiting in the airport was a half day. Not fun at all.But the flight was good as I can see from above the strange landscape below. [sandymay16]

My first travel by plane is in 1980. I was 23 then. This is my first trip overseas. The flight is from Kuala Lumpur to London. I was on my to United States to study for college degree. I expected a smooth ride but I was wrong when the plane hit the cloud. I really enjoy the taking off and when the plane lands. However, I did not enjoyed much as the travel through the night. [hasida07]

Hi sophisticated_boy!^^ I was excited too during my first ever flight. I was 18. ^^;; It was also a domestic flight. It was a really great experience from the airport to the airplane. But apart from excitement I was also nervous. I always get nervous when I'm in a place for the first time. And besides that, the airport is a huge place and I'm hopeless when there's too many people around and so many entrances and exits. I felt like I could get lost. LOL I was with my mother then and I just couldn't get away from her and explore the new surroundings. ^^;; But the thing that I will never forget regarding that experience was during the flight. It hurt my ears. My mother forgot to warn me about the pressure. She only remembered it when I was already experiencing it. She said she forgot to bring a candy or something that would ease the effect of the pressure on my ears.^^;; Well since then, I always bring a candy or a gum whenever I board a plane. happy [secretbear]
And I get always nervous and a little paranoid when I'm in an airport because I always think "what if my flight gets canceled or delayed" or something like that. It happened to me when I was still a student and I was traveling alone. My flight got so delayed, a few hours delayed and people are getting impatient and worried and angry. There were too much emotions and I got so carried away with worry, I cried.^^;; That's why I'm always nervous whenever I'm in an airport.^^ [secretbear]

I was 20 and I was going to Germany to study for a year. There was a group of us and we flew to Zurich, Switzerland, spent a couple of days and then traveled by bus to Germany. I wasn't afraid at all. [dawnald]

My first time flying, I was 14 years old. I was flying back home to Chicago from Ft Worth, Texas where I had just been visiting my sister for 8 weeks. We had driven to Texas at the beginning of the summer and now it was time to go home for the start of the school year. So not only was I flying for the first time, but I was also flying alone. I don't think I was scared, but I was excited. I'm glad this was before all the security measures, because my sister was able to take me all the way to the gate. If it happened now, I proibably would have been more scared wandering through the gates alone trying to find where I needed to go. I can still remember after we landed, getting off the plane and coming through the door to see my mom and dad waiting for me. I don't think there's a better feeling after being away for a while than to seeing soemone waiting for you, smiling, glad you are home. [uicbear]

I have never had a chance to travel by plane..But my father had the experience once when he was a boy of 12.. It was only a 15 or 20 minutes flight, but he enjoyed it so much he keeps on narrating it to us again and again.. His style of narrating his experiences is so interesting that it has aroused in me the desire of travelling by plane at least one in my life.. I am confident that i will succeed in fulfilling my desire in near future.. It would be an exciting experience for me.. [saumitrakumar]

I never experienced travel, using plane. I admit i am scared based on I saw on television like plance crush. the only travel I know is by land. I am little scared to travel by water too. I am scared of flying , on feeling how it is to be up there. I have fear of heights so Iguess I will not be looking on the sight below. I cannot imagine myself being inside a plane. i had dream of this many times. In my dreams, iam okay with it. I have the believe that dreams means the opposite so I guess I will be really afraid of riding the plane. I know in time I will get over this. [grecychunny26]

My frirst experence traveling by plane was when I was in high school. I was 16 at the ti me and me and my family were going across county to visit my uncle. this was allso a vaction for the faily as well. It was an intresting experence when I flew for the first time. the ride of the plane was very smooth and it was an interting experence all to gether. the best thing was the inflight movie. I rember seeing a couple of hit movies at the time. after that expeience I want to fly aging, I was not able to untill a few years latter. [scififan43]

I was a very late starter when it came to my first debut on a plane, I was 26, I guess I had followed in my mum's thinking about being too frightened to get on a plane, so for me it was more of an irrational phobia, but eventually I was coaxed onto a plane, my first plane trip took me to Cyprus, ironically I went with my parents, it was a scary experience, taking off was wonderful but I hated the landing and certainly my ears popping was an experience I could do without. Even now that I have flown a few times I still rather avoid it. [wolfie34]

I was 25 when i first had my plane travel. It was also a domestic flight and i was a bit frightened coz i was traveling alone. What added to my anxiety was that nobody was there to meet me upon arrival at the airport. Although it was not my first time to be at that city but i was traveling alone. I will never forget that flight coz i was febrile while on board the flight. I was just thankful i was able to manage myself during that travel. [pinklady227]

I first flew when I was 18 year old.I'm from India and in my country flying is very costly and therefore it is often considered a luxury.Ironically flying aboard is much cheaper than flying within India. For most most of the Indians flying is still a dream but now the scenario is changing thanks to the np frills airways like,go airways, spicejet, indigo. So my first flight was a domestic flight, I was to fly from New Delhi to Hyderabad. My flight was on 2:45 PM but due to excitement I reached early at about 11:00 AM. So I entered the terminal checked out my luggage and took my boarding pass, I actualy asked for a window seat. My seat number was 3F and I got the a window seat some distance away from wings( wigs actualy spoil the view) so I was excited and a bit nervous too. Earlier my friends told me that I will feel nauseating when take off so they suggested me to chew a candy during take-off,so I did exactly the same. The plane was Boeing 737-800. The plane taxied its way to the end of the runway and then suddenly the engine started running at full speed and momentarily I was pushed back in my seat. In few seconds I was in the air watching my home town that was a wonderul experience. I made several flight journeys after that, but none of them are as exciting as my first flight. [nsj947]

I didn't go on an airplane ride till I was about 25 years old. My first trip was to Las Vegas. My baby sister won a free trip for two and we were best friends so she took me. It was great and I loved the airplane ride and was hooked after that. I have been on an airplane, probably, about 30 times, maybe more. I live in another province from my family, since 2001, so I fly back and forth lots. Especially now that I have a granddaughter. But the last time I was on a plane, last July, I went to Vegas again this time I took my daughter, I had a really big problem with my eardrums. I burst my right eardrum and had to go to the docter when I got home. Thank goodness it happened on the way home and not on the way there. I had to go on medicine and was told I can't go on an airplane anymore. My eardrums are too sensitive now, I have a health issue with them. I am so sad about that. I will probably try again in a year or so just to see if I can. [chrislotz]
